Curved Flying Geese

In this workshop, you will draft and sew a free-form curved flying geese unit which will then be added to a project.  The technique used will be paperless paper-piecing (also known as freezer paper piecing) which results in perfect points but no messy paper to remove afterwards.  Details on the Santa wallhanging are added using raw edge appliqué.  Class project is this Christmas wallhanging, however students are welcome to work on a project of their own choosing if they so desire.

This is an all day workshop, 9:00 am-3:00 pm

Course fee covers instruction and class handouts. Students are required to bring their own fabric, as well as a flexible curve. This workshop is suitable for an advanced beginner or intermediate quilter.

Curved Strip-piecing

Take strip-piecing to a whole new level by adding free-form curves to your work. Students will learn to cut the curves in the fabric free hand with their rotary cutter – no templates or rulers required – and then easily stitch the pieces together using cues from the fabric. Thread embellishment will be added after stitching. This technique can be used in a variety of projects, such as a landscape background, or in patchwork projects.

Project for the day will be a 14" cushion. Sewing machine, rotary cutter, and mat are required. A complete supply list will be provided upon registration.

This workshop is suitable for an advanced beginner or intermediate quilter.  Students should have experience in the use of a rotary cutter, familiarity with their sewing machines, and the ability to sew a consistent 1/4" seam.
